The Café Intermezzo
Twenty-Fifth Anniversary
International Poster Contest

         Please consider painting or drawing your concept for a poster commemorating the 25 th year since the opening of Café Intermezzo, the premiere European Coffeehouse in America, on 3 December 1979.   With the good fortune of residents of, and visitors to, having discovered and returned, Café Intermezzo has surmounted the odds and endured through two generations, two-and-a-half decades, six Presidents, and twenty-five years.

  Commemorate this feat with your creation of a poster, perhaps in the nineteenth-century European tradition.   The winning selections will be published by Café Intermezzo, and the Café will use them into the future for publicity purposes across the country, and on its website, cafeintermezzo.com.

  A description of the Contest's rules and parameters follows, as well as the entry form.   Consider this opportunity for your art to gain international recognition.   As Café Intermezzo opens other locations in America, and perhaps internationally, your work, if selected, will be displayed in each Café, as well as in each market in which a Café Intermezzo will be located.   This will be a major part of our promotion campaign.   The poster will be offered for sale in each Café, and on the Café Intermezzo website.          To enter, simply deliver, mail or ship your original poster design to Café Intermezzo, following the parameters listed below.   We will acknowledge receipt of your entry by mail or email.

Contest Parameters

1.  Anyone of any age may submit an entry.   There are three categories:

       Adult:      ages 18 and above

       Teen:      Ages 13 to 17 years

       Child:      Up to 12 years

2.   The prizes for the winning Entries:

     Adult, First Place: $2,500 in Café Intermezzo Gift Certificates;
                                $500 in Gift Certificates to other businesses;
                                $250.00 in cash;
                                Announcement of your name in various media;
                                Ten prints of your winning poster, when published.

     Adult, Second Place: $1,000 in Café Intermezzo Gift Certificates;
                                    $100 United States Savings Bond;
                                    Two prints of your winning Entry.

     Teen, First Place: $1,000 in Café Intermezzo Gift Certificates;
                               $300 in various other Gift Certificates;
                               $250 United States Savings Bond;
                               Ten prints of your winning poster, when published.

     Teen, Second Place: $500 in Café Intermezzo Gift Certificates;
                                    $50 United States Savings Bond;
                                    Two prints of your winning Entry.

     Child, First Place: A birthday Party at Café Intermezzo
                                        for the winner and twenty of his/her friends;
                               $250 United States Savings Bond;
                               Ten prints of your winning poster, when published.

     Child, Second Place: A lunch or dinner at Café Intermezzo for 8 people;
                                    $50 United States Savings Bond;
                                    Two prints of your winning Entry.        

3.  Artists may use any medium, including (but not limited to) pencil, charcoal, graphite, chalk, pastels, oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, etc.

4.  The Café Intermezzo logo may be included in the design.   If you so choose, please request an email of the logo.

5.  The size of entries should be no less than 10" by 14", and no greater than 30" by 40", oriented either way.

6.  Entries are free of charge.

7.  If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must review the Parameters and consent to your entry in the Contest.

8.  Each Entrant's age is determined as-of January 1, 2006.

9.  All entries must include the following information:

      Full name of artist;
      Name of parent or guardian, if entrant is under 18;
      Complete address of entrant, including:
           street, city, state or province, postal code, country;
      Telephone number and email (if available.)

10.  All entries, both winning and non-winning, will become the property of Café Intermezzo, Inc. upon mailing or shipping by Entrant, and Café Intermezzo reserves the right to use any entry in future publicity, advertising, articles, mailings, on a website, or in any other manner which Café Intermezzo chooses, provided, however, that if Café Intermezzo chooses to use a non-winning entry in future promotion or publicity, Café Intermezzo agrees to pay to Entrant who created and correctly submitted such non-winning entry a total fee of one hundred dollars for said use in that and/or any future advertising, promotion, article, or any other communications means or medium.

11.  No verbage, images, or representations of a cynical, negative, or profane nature will be accepted for consideration.

12.  All entries are to be shipped or mailed postage or freight prepaid to:

       All Entries must be delivered to Café Intermezzo.

13.  Café Intermezzo bears no responsibility for any incorrect transcriptions of entry information; errors or malfunctions of computer equipment and/or software; late, lost, or erroneous entries; illegible entries; damage to artwork during shipping or mailing to Café Intermezzo; any damage to an Entrant's computer hardware or software related directly or indirectly to entry in the Contest; any other failure which may occur as a result of entry in the Contest.

14.  The Parent(s) or Legal Guardian(s) of a person under the age of 18 winning the contest agree(s) to permit that child to participate in promotional activities within the Greater Atlanta area, schedule permitting, and to permit that child's name to be used in conjunction with the promotion of the Contest.

15.  All entrants agree to permit their name and likeness to be publicized with respect to the Contest if they win.   Entrant further agrees to participate in promotional activities relating to the Contest, at mutually agreeable times.

16.  Any Entrant under the age of 18 who wins in his/her respective age category will receive their respective prizes awarded in their name and their parent's or guardians name.

17.  All Entries will be considered and judged based upon the aesthetic appeal of the artwork design, without regard for the Entrant's race, creed, color, ethnic background, gender, or any other characteristic not allowed by law as a basis for consideration.

18.  All finalists and the three winners will be determined based on the sole discretion of the Judging Panel.   An Entry may be disqualified by the Judging Panel at any time, for any reason.

19.  The Contest will be administered subject to the laws of the state of Georgia.   Any potential entrant residing in a state, province or country in which any parameter or characteristic of this Contest is not compliant with the laws of that state, province, or country may not enter this Contest, and if they should submit an Entry, their Entry will be null and void with or without recognition or acknowledgement by Café Intermezzo or the judging panel of any such non-compliance.

20.  Information about entrants and winners will not be distributed in any way to any individual, company or organization, except in accordance with the parameters addressed above with regard to acknowledgement of the winners.
